Date: September 2021 to August 2024
Client: Causeway Link Alliance
Project: Perth Causeway Bridge
Scope:

FSACE have been intrinsically involved in a variety of marine and temporary works designs for the Perth Causeway Bridge Project, located within Perth, Western Australia. The project involves the design and construction of two 6m wide cable stayed bridges totalling 1km in length, providing a link for pedestrians and cyclists between Perth CBD, Heirisson Island and Victoria Park foreshore. The structure is also the first of its kind to feature a boomerang-shaped pylon. The unique architecture of the bridge resulted in the development of various challenging bespoke structural designs. Our involvement in this project is detailed as follows:

  • Provide tender design inputs to support the client in winning the design and construction contract.
  • Design of various pylon components including rigging and lifting, strengthening, transportation and temporary supports. This included the design of a bespoke wedge / jacking system for temporary support of the pylons during installation on an 8 degree angle.
  • Design of temporary deck supports.
  • Design of fender piles.
  • Design for rigging, lifting and transportation of various components, including, pylon structures, precast pilecap shells, deck segments, pile cages and piers.
  • Design of temporary loadout finger jetties.
  • Design of pilecap formwork.
  • Design of abutment supports and restraints.
  • Design of temporary pile stability systems.
  • Provision of scaffold loading assessments.
  • Design of temporary support frame for portals and pylon leg stressing bars.
  • Design of temporary handrail systems.
  • Design assessment of bog mats to suit an 800T crawler crane.
